Microfinance Institutions (MPIs) have a very important role in driving the regional economy, especially in providing education and business consultations as well as supporting capital to micro and small entrepreneurs. This research aims to analyze the factors that influence MFIs profitability, examine their health level and compare the performance and health level of MFIs in the form of Cooperatives and Limited Liability Companies (PT), both those operating conventionally and sharia compliant. The research results show that MFIs profitability is influenced by the placement of excess funds in banks, the size of operational costs relative to operating income (BOPO), liquidity and solvency, while the size of assets, loans and funds has no effect. The health level of MFIs, both conventional and sharia, measured by liquidity and solvency ratios, is healthy. If we look at the performance and health level of MFIs, there are differences in the performance and health level of Conventional Cooperative MPIs and Sharia Cooperative MPIs, especially in terms of assets, loans, placement of funds in banks and liquidity, while profitability, funds, BOPO and solvency are not different. If we compare the performance and health level between conventional MFIs in the form of cooperatives and Limited, there are differences in assets, loans, funds, placement of funds in banks and liquidity, while profitability, BOPO and solvency are not different. MFIs must continue to increase efficiency and productivity by digitalizing (go digital) and collaborating with fintechs / banks or other providers of digital financial innovation.
